Supporting Your Mental Health With Cocoon

The self-love section and the mood-lift section are made specifically to help you have an overall positive outlook. And they will help whether you’ve worked through deeper issues or not.

They work by helping you release your focus on the problem or trying to fix it, or on criticism or pessimism. Or pain. They push you to leave it alone for now and find something else that is positive. They train your focus to let you feel better even without things being perfect or all problems being solved or all goals accomplished.

Doing these exercises regularly will help you have the courage to face challenges and soothe the pain you are feeling. Also, when you are feeling better, you are actually going to be able to find solutions and do the things you want without your emotions holding you back.

You can pull yourself out of any feelings of anxiety and depression in the moment that you do the exercises. Keep going till you are feeling calm and soothed.

These exercises seem so extremely simple that you might underestimate their ability to help you. Often in a difficult moment, I also think that they won’t work this time, no matter how many times they helped already. But you will realise how big a difference they make when you actually do them. Even though it is so easy, doing these exercises can help you find relief, a little bit immediately, and gradually all the way in the long run.

Here’s the thing: Cocoon will work to help you feel better no matter what, but if you have a way to work through issues like in a journal or with talking to someone, they will work even better.

You do have to have a way to actually work through the things troubling you though- by yourself or with help, depending on what you need. You cannot keep distracting yourself from them if they are constantly triggering you, there are some issues you will have to soothe for your own wellbeing. If I ever find a formulaic way to help you work through issues, I’ll put it in the app. But generally, it depends on the circumstances you are facing, and you can’t always speed through emotionally difficult things even if you’d like to.

But Cocoon can be there to make the journey easier.

Tips:

In the mood-lift section, I usually pick one of the lists and keep listing until I feel better.

The self-love section can be a little harder if you suffer from being self-critical. If you can just think of one point for each list (what I love about me, what I’ve done well, what I’m making progress in), you’ll feel better. And sometimes you might be able to think of another set, and another, but even one will make a big difference in how you think of yourself.

Please remember: Sometimes a walk, a breathing exercise, petting an animal, or talking to someone can help more than any amount of writing and focusing. So please check with yourself each time to see if that’s what you need instead.
